this has become one of my most valued tools in the garage!

Wife bought me a couple of magnets about the size of a big pen that telescope out to about 30" . They have the power to pick up a good sized wrench or anything else iron. Very very handy .

:I have one of those tools on my zero turn mower all the time. It will reach a small branch to pick it up with out getting off the mower. Very handy.

Now that pickups have higher bed sides, I carry one in the pickup to reach into the bed.

I have several both in and out of the house. I just got a folding one like that a month ago. Carol Wright Gifts.

Just finished using one for picking up the garbage that flies over the fence from McDonalds. Used one during my back surgery recovery. Great tool to have around.

is that a pea shooter under neath the picker upper ?? shoot it first then pick it up -- want to make sure its dead first --

An amazing number of "tools" make daily living so much easier...like a sock tool and slip on shoes with a looooooong handled shoe horn.

A woman dropped a quarter by the vending machine. I watched her pick it up. I thought "WOW" she did that with out thinking about it. Effortlessly.
Hey, wasn't I supposed to be noticing something else?

I plan my efforts that involve bending down to the floor, so I can take care of multiple tasks. Then I only have to bend down once.

On one of mine I split a short piece of 2" pvc pipe and used my heat gun to fashion two little cups to replace the rubber thingies . It is a perfect dog residue picker upper and slinger from the yard to out into the field. It also works for pine cones. TDF

Second-hand stores usually have them for a few bucks. Seems every health care agency hands them out these days!

I am 68 and I know that my day is coming. I had to squat way down when working on plumbing Saturday. It took about all I had in leg power to get back up with my hands full. I have been fighting back by doing squats while I shave for the last ten years or so. After Saturday I am going lower.

Never thought of carrying one of them on the zero turn. Can't even lean over to cut one and the stupid thing will shut off.

Steve, I bought one sometime back for my wife so she could reach the can goods in the cabnets. Now I use it all the time to pick up things I always drop!!!.As for bending and stooping,I have to be so careful cause once I'm down, I have to find something I can grab a hold of,otherwise I'm hollering,"Help,I've fallen and I cant get up".Old age and poor co-ordination makes for poor bed fellows".
Regards Lou & Victor.Good post!I'm not alone,

A few weeks after Marilyn had her first hip surgery she hobbled out to the garden and picked beans with one of those grabbers. It was kind of funny to watch but she was pretty darned articulate with it.

Use mine lots.....Slip an oring around the locking button in the middle, to keep it locked.
Also, repaired the pucks on the end with better screws.
With a lawn tractor and a cart, go around picking up branches after a windstorm
without leaving the seat. Handy to have around.
