Better quality battery disconnect?

I just put this on my old F150 that gets infrequent use, and needs frequent repairs--so I thought it would be good to have a quick way to disconnect battery. Also want to put these on other vehicles and my tractor. Anyone have a better-quality disconnect they can recommend? Unhappy with the fit and finish on this one, but it actually works--just not very robust. Granted, it probably cost under ten bucks, but willing to spend a bit more to get something a few notches above this. Thanks for any help, Gary.

Thanks, I like the design of that one, will try to track one down. Appreciate the reply, Gary.

I use one of these on tractors and you can remove the key and nobody can start it . They are nice and good on tractors at shows.

Cole Hersee 2484 Master Disconnect Switch with Copper Contacts $23 prime on Amazon. Very nice switch and copper.

I use the one like Philip posted. We have them on many machines that set a lot. Put it in the ground circuit and your good to go. One big place I use them is combines and self propelled forage harvesters. Too many electrical fires because of wiring damage.

I like it! Where do you get them? :)

Yes, I agree on the Cole Hersee or Pollak switches. WAY better than the crap knobs at the battery post that eventuality get acid and corrosion on them, and conduct (even when in "disconnect mode") enough current to "kill" the battery over an extended storage period.

I like the ones made by NAPA.... they are a solid brass knife switch type shutoff and are rated for a lot of cranking amps. No problems with corrosion.... install on the negative post and your all good. Been usin them for years.

You're exactly right. those green handle things are worthless. D beatty has it right, the red handle ones are just fine. I've had one for years now.

I have the heavy duty ones at 298.35 they are ones used on dozers and semis and farm tractors call link_disallowed I ship every day

The Cat switch is great. I had a 8N that had one on it when I bought it. It was old when I got it and never gave a minutes trouble!

....Thanks for the replies, very helpful. Suspected my part would not last long. Will most likely go with a Cole-Hersey or similar or even the CAT switch, which was a few dollars less online than the Cole-Hersey switches. Happy tractoring, thanks again, Gary.

THE ultimate battery disconnects are made by Flaming River, These are lifetime switches, some can be used with locks for locking out equipment, models that also work with mags, automatic ones, lots to pick from. Not cheap, just the best.

I've used the knife switch type on a vehicle we don't use much that tends to drain the battery if it sits too long. Had it for years and it's as good as new today.
