John Deere 2510 trouble

I have a JOHN Deere 2510 My problem is i'm having trouble getting it to start. I was bush hogging with it and got in some rather thick brush and bogged it down. before i could get the pto disengaged the engine died. When i try to start it, it won't do anything at all. I checked the in line fuse and it is good. When i turn the key it don't engage the starter. I had tried several times and the engine would turn over and fire but would never open up and run. Now it won't do anything. I'm desperate for any answers as to what might possibly be wrong

First try to jump start it or charge the battery. If battery good, need to see if power is getting to the switch and on
to the starter solenoid when you turn the key. Could be a bad solenoid. Could try pull starting it as well.

I tried charging the battery. The times that i tried to start it the engine would try to run but it would keep dying out. I never could get it to open up and run. Charged the battery over night and when i tried to start it nothing happened. I thought maybe the inline fuse might be bad but i checked that and it is good.

Clean both connections on both battery cables. Clean bright and tight. If any question about condition of cables or ends replace the cables.

Bush hogging in thick brush may have pulled a wire loose.

Is it gas or diesel?, I had a diesel do exactly what you describe, fire and die, found the kill
switch linkage bent allowing the kill switch to remin about 3/4 of the way engaged. If it is a gas
burner I would check all of the plug and coil wire first, then the timing, if the distributor gear
is worn it could get out of time when the engine bogged down all of a sudden, just try to turn the
distributor by hand and see if it is loose.

How about the fuel filter? Under load it might have sucked more trash. I've had a tractor to quit running dead on with a clogged fuel filter. Just a guess.

Had a 550 Oliver that acted similar. Turned out to be the
points were gapped to small.

My answer only applies if it is gas: But it sounds like it tries to start and does start until you let off the start position.

Most gas tractors have a start circuit for the points that is hotter than the run ignition circuit for easier starting. Tractor starts using that hot circuit key start but dies when you let off the key and the switch changes to the run circuit.

Problem could be the ignition switch, ballast resistor, resistor wire in the run circuit. It is possible to troubleshoot this by running a hot wire to the coil for troubleshooting.
