It's a popular diesel oil in Oklahoma and used to be made in OKC by the Cato oil company. The Mystik grease and other products are popular too

Not sure where it's produced now but I think it's a Citgo owned brand(Venezuelan/Russian)...I don't use it myself

Gebo's Farm store and some auto parts stores carry it. I have used their products and would rate them with the best.

I just looked up Citgo, I had no idea. Apparently Citgo is indeed owned just about 50-50 by the government of Venezuela and the Russian government. Good grief. Thank you, I had no idea.

I remember Cities Service when a youngster. When in high school and working as a tug boat deckhand during summer vacations, I recall loading barges of Louisiana crude from the Cities Service docks in Lake Charles, La. CS gas stations were prevalent then too.

I wouldn't get my shorts in a wad about who owns what. Doubt any of them bow to any place in particular, if at all.

The Mystik products are indeed top quality. As far as the Mystik diesel oil goes it was my father's oil of choice.

Mystik oil used to just slightly cheaper than other top brand diesel oils...anymore it costs the same or maybe slightly more than Say Rotella or Delo or even John Deere Torque-gard.

I did indeed quit using Mystik products when it dawned on me it was no longer locally produced...and it's ownership turned me off. I just had idealistic problems putting dollars into Hugo Chavez's regime(that was then...I still feel the same!).

The reality of it is that who knows where whatever brand oil comes from. I have seen pallets of JD motor oil delivered to the dealership when I worked there...with Texaco labels on the shrink wrap. It's possible the engine oil I'm using now may have it's origins with Citgo(I don't think it does)...I actually used a couple tubes of Mystik red grease not too long back and didn't die or my machines didn't disintegrate. However I felt like a traitor with every pump of grease!!.. :(

I may be wrong but I don't think Valero stands for Venezuela Oil. I know Wikipedia isn't always the greatest source for fact but here is a link to their page.

Hey, you got it right Mark. Cities Services. When I was a cased hole engineer for Schlumberger in N. La years ago, did a perforating job for them around Haynesville. Got the ticket done to be signed by company man and put City Services as customer.

I got severely chewed out by the old man, up one side down the other (like the old oil field guys used to do). Being run off would have been better. They did not like the name misspelled at all.

Valero is a publicly owned American company based in San Antonio, and has NOTHING to do with Citco. DO not confuse the two companies.

I have a paper somewhere the John Deere dealer
gave me that listed the suppliers for the John Deere
oil chevron was one and Sunoco I think and 2 or 3
others

I've used Mystic JT6 grease for a long time with good results. For a few years it said on the tube Mystic, a division of Citgo, but for the last few years it no longer says anything about Citgo.

I just grabbed a tube of grease for one of my grease guns yesterday. Thinking about this thread, I looked at the tube and yepper, it said Mystic, color red.

I use Mystic JT-4 full synthetic 2-cycle in my chainsaws. It works very well for the price compared to some other expensive brands.
I think it is also sold as Sea and Ski PWC.
