Well The uncle started cutting second cut yesterday. He was soon joined buy the custom hay crew. They only brought over the 14' SP Disc mower conditioner. They didn't bring the 30' disc mower. I suspect that it takes longer for unconditioned second cut to dry. Any way they mowed 275 acres yesterday, tedded most of it, and started raking today with 3 BIG rakes. They moved in this morning with TWO NH big square balers and 3 Kubota loader tractors and 3 semis and all the second cut was baled and transported out by dark.

Wow! That's some operation!. And here I was feeling good about getting 16.5 acres done today all by myself (about a hundred heavy bales of second cutting).

I wonder how they got the shaded edges dry. I have to bale within 30 feet of the edge, stop and rake the edge towards the middle, in small windrows, Then bale it when done the middle.

There is a 5500 head beef operation about 6 miles from us. They buy all the hay that the uncles have, plus they buy oat straw for their nursery .

(quoted from post at 07:45:12 08/10/17) That is a beautiful farm. I guess it is in NY (Adirondack) but could be Georgia.

LOL yea looks great now, ain't so nice looking in mid Jan when yer feeding that hay with an open station tractor!

WE got a guy here who puts up high moisture big squares. He does his own with hired help (500 cow dairy). 14' SP discbine. MAn when they get to going they knock down a lot of hay and it's off the field and gone quick!
