Old Style 88

I was born in 48 and I always wanted a 48 Oliver 88. Went to a lot of sales but thought I couldn't afford one or they went too high. About 5 years ago I saw one advertised in my FB spokesman about 20 mi away-went and looked at it and bought it. The local banker was a tractor guy and he died that Summer and they had a tractor ride in his honor. Went on it and had a good time but realized I like tractor pulling better. So it sat covered up in the shed until this 3rd of July-hooked up the battery and nothing. Pulled it down by the road and left it set there for 3 days and then pushed it in my shop. I saw a guy had a ad in the YT ads that wanted to buy one. Thought about it for a week and finally called him and put a new battery in it. He and his wife came right out and looked at it-we agreed on a price and yesterday he and his son brought a pick-up and trailer and got it. I really have mixed emotions about selling it but now I can do my other projects. Well I lost my 88 but have 3 new friends from Illinois-Larry, his nice wife and son Brian.---Tee

Beautiful tractor, I love the Olivers from that era. And the story is the equal of the tractor, very nice ..... and great to see someone get your ride that will appreciate it as much as you did. Not sure how old the young fella was but I'll bet he had a hard time sleeping for a few nights.

Big Tee I am thinking for doing the same thing. I have tractors that I have not driven in years. I start them and run them a few times each year but other than that nothing. I have not shown anything at a show in close to 15 years. Just not interested anymore in that. So maybe let the kids pick what they want to keep and move the rest along.

Nice post Tee !
Have been an Oliver guy but being born in 1954 have thought about a SMTA or JD 60.
Is that a sin ??

PS: You going to Half Century of Progress in a couple of weeks ?
