Saw a weird thing in the field today

We live along coastal waters and have a field that runs to the cape we just chopped barley silage off a week ago. There is a public dirt road running to it as there's a vacant falling down one room school house on that road. We have a private property sign at the end but it had grown up in weeds around it and was falling over, not really at all viable. We pasture heifers beside the farmed field. Woke up this morning looked down that way on the way to the barn and noticed a truck and camper we didn't recognize in the field. I figured I'd give them till after 11 to move on their way as it's not their fault the sign was not visible and likely didn't know it's private land. After lunch there was still no signs of movement so I went down fixed up the sign and knocked on the door of the camper to kindly let them know it's not a camp ground and we don't like people we don't know accessing the beach there either as if someone fell and got hurt were or our insurance is on the hook for any liable injuries. Anyways no one was there and I saw a note in the truck window thanking us for the wonderful place that they parked a name and cell number and saying they'd return by 3 and would be on their way. Harmless for sure but kinda odd lol hopefully they enjoyed their day and I'm glad I didn't have to disturb their vacation.

We built a house on an old farm site next to a lake. The farm site is one of the few properties on the lake that wasn't a newer cabin or small resort. The owner was late 40's early 50's at the time and had a younger bride, say mid to late 30's. There were no kids on either of the couple's sides and the house was designed as a retirement style with only a master and a guest bedroom.
The couple was working on some of the old farm buildings and had started moving some of the adult life stuff into those buildings.

About a month into the project both showed up at the site acting kinda giddy. He gave us $60.00 and said go have yourselves a good lunch as they were frolicking on the beach below the house. Being it was mid summer and hot we took a bit longer lunch than normal. When we returned there was no sign of the couple. By the time we were finishing the house there was a change to make one of the upstairs rooms a nursery.
