i have a 384 ih that i want to use a log splitter on. it doesn't have remotes. is there a place i can pick up hydraulic pressure and run it to the control valve on the splitter. thanks, david

Hi David, do you have a front end loader on the 384? If so use the bucket control valve and attach the log splitter to the bucket control valve and use a bungy cord to tie the bucket valve open.

Otherwise if you can find the following remote outlet see link to caseih.com parts.
This will be the high pressure input line to the log splitter valve and the return line hydraulic will go into the hydraulic
housing filler hole on the top of the hydraulic housing behind the seat.

thanks for the help but I do not have a front end loader and the link you sent is for a 484 which is nothing like the 384. any other help would be welcomed. david

I did look up the parts manual for the 384. it shows under hydraulics then control valve cylinder head a part called a 1/2 inch bsp auxiliary tapping. could this be used and what kind of fitting do I need to tap into it. I know that I will hav to run the return back thru the filler plug. thanks, david

Hi David, see the link to caseih.com to the 384 hydraulic control module at the front of the seat.
To put an auxiliary hydraulic outlet on a 384, you remove item #1 plug and install the parts from 434 in the parts link that I
posted in previous post. I have seen some farmers that found the proper fitting for item #1 plug at a hydraulic shop and then
ran a length of hydraulic hose to the rear of the tractor with a female hydraulic quick coupler on it.

How to operate the remote hydraulic outlet using the 3pt lift control lever. (This will only work for single acting cylinder).
Move 3pt lift lever until it is in the midway position (this will be neutral position) then turn knob item #14 to the OFF
position (this diverts the hydraulic oil from 3pt to the remote outlet).
To make high pressure hydraulic oil to flow to the remote outlet move the 3pt control lever about an inch up from the neutral
position, to stop the flow, return to the neutral position, release the pressure move the 3pt lever down about an inch.

So to operate your log splitter with its own open center hydraulic control valve, connect the output of the 384 aux remote
outlet to the input of the log splitter control valve and the output of the splitter control valve to the 384 hydraulic filler
plug at the back of the seat. Then move the 3pt lever to the up position and the high pressure hydraulic oil will flow from 384
through the log splitter control valve and back into the 384's hydraulic reservoir. Just make sure that there is sufficient
hydraulic fluid in the 384's reservoir when the log splitter cylinder is extended half way.

BTW we owned and farmed with B414D, 434D and 384D, neighbor had 434D and 444D. But these were all UK tractors exported to
Canada.
The ones assembled in the USA were slightly different with PS and electrics and front ends.

Hope this helps
