Hey KCM re Hitbox welder

You posted below about the Hitbox inverter welder- since it is the inverter type, can you get attachments to make it a TIG?
Almost seems to good to be true, but it got some good reviews. Jon cautioned about reliability, but you can get a 4 year service warranty for 15 bucks, which seems like cheap insurance.

I'm not NEARLY intelligent enough at the moment to figure out TIG welding!

It seems like I remember seeing some that were also TIG, but I could be wrong about that. I've slept a time or two since looking at the options. *lol*

....Darnit, now you got ME wondering! Oh well...it's not like I was gonna do anything worthwhile with my life today.

Seriously though, I was reading the reviews also and was amazed at how positive they were overall with all those little welders. They also had some that were made in....not sure if it's correct to say "Russia", but even the on/off switch wasn't in English, so I just passed on them. ...Like I said, I ain't much of a welder. More like a messer of metal!

Ok, here's one of the "possibles" I was considering:

If memory serves (and service is BAD nowdays! ), this was first on my list until I saw the one I got. I will likely never in my life use TIG welding, so just couldn't justify the nearly twice-the-price cost, even though it has excellent reviews and says that each unit is tested in America. There are other choices as well:

While not a TIG, this one really caught my attention also! It appears to be made by (or maybe just sold by) Forney. Is less power, but a name brand:
https://www.amazon.com/Forney-Easy-...&sr=8-29&keywords=inverter+tig+welder It's difficult to believe the super-low prices on these things!! A Forney welder for $130?? WOW!

Thanks, KCM- been wanting a stick welder, but looks like you can get TIG as well, for very little more. Always been fascinated with TIG- great looking welds. Talked to a gal one time who had welded bicycle frames with TIG for a high-end bike manufactured (Klein). She said she taught herself, wasn't real tough once you got the hang of it. I don't need to know how, but need something to keep me interested during retirement.

Well, it's certainly gotten a lot more affordable to have such a hobby these days! As I said, I've never done enough welding to get much farther than my old HF buzz box. When I had pushed it too far, I bought a small MIG welder - Hobart Handler 125 or something like that. Problem is, that derned thing is HEAVY! So when I saw these little units, just had to have one. Am anxious as all let out to try the thing out!!
