What a difference a day makes

Yesterday we drove down from Devil's Tower to Denver to catch a plane home from vacation. Stopped in Chugwater, WY for dinner. Quiet, dusty little western town, this is Main Street.

Today we flew into to Altoona Airport (Morrison's Cove), PA. Mid-summer green everywhere:

Altoona -Blair county airport is a mile or two from where I live and work. If I'd known, I would have waved as you went over/by!

Well, that didn't work. Trying again

I had a flat tire on my 51 GMC 3/4 just south of Chugwater. Needing a 17" tire on a Sunday, a generous repair shop operator said there were none in town --but he had a step van at home on the "hill" with two tubeless 17.5 8 ply with some tread. He would go home take a cross wrench and remove them and bring them down in about 2 hours, for $75. I said do it. He did and they were good for another 5000 miles. What a deal. Good memories. Jim

I love how, even though it looks like the town is dead and slowly slipping into history, someone still cares enough to decorate the lamp pole and take care of a planter below it. Life on the plains..

also noticed the hitching post at the left of the picture. Imagine a few people out there still ride into town on their horse.

We took a vacation in March. Left just
after the NE blizzard and went hiking slot
canyons in southern Utah.
