will the rear end from a1010 work in a 430 JD?

Depends on which 1010. Some componets swap onto a slant steer 420/430/435/440.
Free parts book on the JD web site has a cross reference function.

With out researching it I doubt it.

I think the PTO configuration will be too different to interchange

An early 1010 can donate some transmission parts plus a HD ring and pinion upgrade for the 420/430/435/440. Early or late final drives will bolt on and offer lower speeds with late 1010 pieces. Hydraulics, three point hitch will swap. drawbar mount is a bit different on the 1010 but can be made to work. Seat, fenders, lights and that is about it. Thinking of the W row crop utility in particular here.

"Where used function" on JDparts.com doesn't apply to tractors/implements that parts catalogs are in PDF form. AT10444 fits both 430 & 1010.

B&D, you continue to amaze me with your replies that have absolutely nothing to do with the original post.

Yes, there are parts that are interchangeable, but that is not the question here.

I am thankful for the following:
1. You did not provide a phone number and tell them to buy a manual
2. You did not tell them to buy a new tractor
3. You did not condemn the 1010

Sooner or later you will provide a reply to a post that has validation to the topic....
I just hope it's sooner than later....
