Wondering if this will be enough tools to do the job.

No offense but I think you need some help getting the right tools.Maybe a chainsaw with a diamond blade would work better than what you have there.

Plenty of wood blocks for cribbing and some good floor jacks. A 75 ton overhead crane is good too.

20 lbs of C4? Seriously, It"s only a Ford! He doesn"t want to destroy it, just some separation. In Special Forces we always did that with a quarter or half a pound, with some mud pack on top of the charge.

no,no,no, duct tape not packing tape. And a job like that needs a torch(smoke wrench)!

Well, Step One of a tractor split is to cut up a bunch of 4x4s for cribbing. I reckon that rusty old saw will keep you busy for the next few days.

I think you have pretty much all you need there , except maybe add a slot screw driver, and a pair of slip joint pliers... Oh and a cell phone to call some repair shop to come and pick the tractor up and change the clutch , before you skin your knuckles.

The hand saw is a nice touch and the gun would be handy to put it out of your misery if it doesn't go well. I always like to paint everything when I split a tractor however you might consider a brush instead of rolling the paint.

I second the notion of using duct tape instead...

AND now days it comes in all sorts of purdy colors.

SweetFeet -- ROFL I think my wife went to the sale sale on that fancy-schmancy tape that you did! She got all she could. Looks like you must've been there ahead of us!

kmc,

Nope that's just a pic from the net... but in junior high, our daughter was making wallets, bookmarks, putting duct tape flowers on the end of ink pens, and any other thing she could think of making out of duct tape. LOL

While I will admit 20 pounds would be a bit of overkill it would be spectacular overkill......personally I'd just make a shaped charge with a half pound or so......then I would get my hands muddy

The last time I did this to a tractor. We had drank a lot of beer and had a great B.B.Q for dinner. The job got done and the tractor ran great. The shot gun that was going to be used by the owner was not used because the job was done in a day. Had a great time and the girls friends all enjoyed hanging out with each other. That was maybe 20 years ago but we all had a fun time (changing out a clutch party).

I don't know what size tractor you have to split, but better you then me. I have split many a Deere 4020, on dirt, in a barnyard, with just a floor-jack on a sheet of plywood and two come-alongs to pull it back together. No more of that stuff for me.

Your Canadian friend Red Green just north of the border should be able to help you out. Just do some Google searching and you'll find something. Meanwhile, if he can overcome the problem in this video, your little issue with splitting a tractor should be pretty easy. Here ya go ......
Red Green and a tractor solution

Whelp, I gotta torch with the big Oxy cylinder, so I can split it for you, and get to the clutch. Now - all I'm guaranteeing is the splitting part. You dint say nothin' about going back together.

My X partner in crime was a wrench thrower are just beat on it till he finished it off... If he could get his hands on a gun I am sure he would put it out of his misery... He was the most impatient man I have ever met in my life. I worked beside him for 25 years I spec that's why I just walk away from something that's eating my lunch I learned that cussing it enoufh to send it and you to ell is not gonna fix it...
