Tractor port.

A while ago some one posted about car ports. I read it and decided to order one for a shelter house out to the pond-18x21. I was supposed to have the cement poured but with all the rain and the earlier hot weather this old man did not get it poured. So they called two days ago that the shelter would be here today. No problem we had them put it together on the lawn next to my shed. Three guys showed up about one this afternoon-Hot-90's but they had it up in a hour. Tied it down to a WD-9 so it wont't blow away tell I get it moved. It was fun to watch them. They were from Ill. and were on a route in Iowa-third one today and had one more stop about 40 mi from here. They all spoke English but while they worked it was a Spanish. Did a good job and were VERY courteous. Gave them ice cream when they started and a pop when they were done. About the only word I knew was amigo. The movie does not come to mind.
Sergeant Garcia.

You know amigo means friend. (Right?)
Gracias! Means thank you.
De nada. Means "it was nothing" (used in place of you are welcome).
Una cerveza fria, por favor. Means one cold beer please.
Donde esta el banos? Means where are the bathrooms?
Demasiado Means "too much".
Agua fria Means cold water.

How about Badges? We don't need to stoking badges! I guess there is 2 movies that that line.

Must be some fairly good steel used. Never would have thought that just the ridge cap could hold the weight of a man!

A buddy and myself moved one of those carports. I used a couple 2X6's that were long enough to span the three middle supports. Placed them on my Ford 3000's bucket, drove under it and picked it up with the bucket. Buddy walked along holding one corner just to steady it.

After we got it in place I put down a gravel floor then we closed in 3 sides with tin that matched the roof. Also used screw in anchors bolted to the bottom runners to keep it from blowing away. Worked out really well for storing my 3000 and our lawn tractors.

To answer your question ""Who starred in the movie that had this famous line--"Hey Hombre, You want this woman then come and get her?"" Paul Newman was the leading star

I don't like that style with the roofing running longways. Mother in law has one and they leak water in at the seams. In freezing climates you can end up with ice on the floor.

I have several of those for goats shelters work great had them over 15years and once had 28" of snow on them at one time still standing. Also have one 18ft X 40ft packed full of
large older garden tractors of different makes and models.

I built something similar a few years ago, only wood frame, for a wood shed. I laid a 2x6 on the steel to walk on during construction, and sloped it about 2 inches to the back, so most of the water runs off the back. It has worked well.

I've got two of them, and on the longer one (40') they sloped it about 4" in the length of it, so the water would run off the end. I don't think the shorter one (21') is sloped, but neither of them leak.

Was fun to watch them being put up- everybody knew their part of the job, and it went like clock-work. Both crews had one guy who spoke good English, so they could communicate with the buyer. They only missed the support member once with a screw, and had a fairly elaborate procedure to back it up and seal it with caulk. And yes, the guy walking on the first roof sheet at the peak was fairly scary, especially since they had absolutely no safety ropes or straps.

Big Tee, had a similar unit 18 x 22 done looks like the same crew but this was 15 years or so ago only one spoke minimal english just enough to know where we wanted it erected. I don't think it took them more than a couple of hours to get up and installed. They worked constantly and every movement had a purpose, it was amazing to watch . it has held up very well had one small leak couple years ago just patched it and been dry ever since. Very good unit , been trying to talk the wife into a second one. Chuck

Crew that put mine up had one skinney tall fellow who never placed his foot on tin except over a truss. He had a long ,long stride.

I do not have a good spot for one of those carports, but a box that had the frame for one, sold for seven dollars at an auction.
