Today, On my way to town I came across two police cars directing traffic around a John Deere tractor sitting in the middle of the highway. When I passed I saw the problem. The tractor was a 4840 with front loader. The loader had two round hay bales. The tractor was missing the left front wheel! I bet that was a wide ride when the wheel fell off!

Never been that bad but can sympathsize with the poor man (I presume). Just WHAT would one do?? A whole bag of Minties wouldn't be enough. Then of course the Law would want to know just why maintenance was neglected to the extent a wheel just fell off, and want to lay blame charges. Assumption, but probably guilty till proven innocent

Looked to me like the spindle broke. Don't understand why someone would drive a tractor down the highway with two large round bales of alfalfa on the front. The highway is full of holes needs resurfaced.

Just like with anything else ya want to play ya gotta pay. He got himself into the predicament. Now it is up to him to cause to come to bear on the problem the needed resources to mitigate the situation. Hopefully he has an employee or relative or friend who can come quickly, because calls will be getting made, complaints registered, calls from dispatch to the officers to get it cleared. So if he doesn't have his own resources, the police will fairly promptly call them and they won't be cheap. Hopefully he and perhaps even some passersby will learn something and he can see how lucky he is that no one got hurt.
