Value Question:

Friend wants to sell his case vai. Complete, unstuck but not running.
Also had sickle bar attachment.

Upstate NY. I don't have the foggiest idea. Told him I would check.

I bought a one with pretty good paint good tires and running like a top for $800. So junk tires and not running would make it little more than scrap, $300-400 maybe. It being an industrial will make it worth a little more but darn little.

Thanks JD and ACG. I figured as much. I wasn't sure with the yellow paint job if the industrial Cases were a) legit and b) of any collector value.

I will pass this info along-
ACG - it is in Edinburg if you need a project. Not far from you. Lol.

It might be yellow tin (for whatever reason) on a regular VA chassis (which isn't yellow) ..... there should be a tin tag on the dash and the serial number should start with the letters VI if it is in fact an actual industrial model. Not sure how they differed from the farm version, maybe a heavier front axle I think (but not sure).

Got one sitting in my cellar. It is the VA, not VAI and doesn't have the Triumph HWY mower with it. The townships up that way seamed to have a lot of those VAIs years back.

I think the Case VA series is the Rodney Dangerfield of old tractors. They get no respect. I have a IHC Super C and a Case VA. Both with solid engines. I think the VA has more power than the Super C. The VA has a lot of guts for a little tractor.

Makes sense. It was in the barn when my buddy bought the place a while ago. Also a real old, relatively unused pop up camper. He is having an interesting time cleaning out before he ships off to Tennessee.
I told him to put $750 on it on craigslist and see what happens. He ended up with $2750 for that Casee 500 I posted about a few weeks back.

I wonder if the yellow paint was an attempt to copy the desert sand color scheme on the 1955-1969 Case tractors.

Do the tires all hold air? Non-running, $500 sounds in the ball park for the tractor, $100 for the mower if it is complete. If your friend can get it running it would be worth close to double that if it runs good. If he can mount the mower and get both the mower and tractor working, the pair should sell for around $1250.
