Photobucket is holding my pictures hostage

Tractor related 'cause I have lots of tractor pictures linked to this site that you can't see anymore.
Photobucket has a new policy that you have to pay $399.99 a year to have unlimited linking and 3rd party image hosting. this plan includes 500GB storage, which I don't need 'cause I have less than 1GB in my account. This seems like what drug dealers do, get you hooked on the product, then charge the dickens for it. It almost seems like a money grab to me.
Who are ya'll using for picture hosting? What, if anything, does it cost, and how easy is the site to navigate as far as loading pictures and transferring them to other sites?
Thanks for the help, not looking forward to moving 700 or so pictures to another site.

i just got a nastygram from photobucket saying i must suscribe for so much a month because i post pictures to yt mag. oh well too bad....so

I never could warm up to the bucket for some
reason. Been using tinypic for years. Not
sure how much storage a person gets for free
because I have never had reason to look,,,
yet, lol.

Amen to that!!
econd that Amen, and let me add--never store anything digital that you care about in only one spot, be it cloud, HDD, NAS, whatever. Keep multiple copies, two for day-to-day stuff, three or more of important stuff. Like tractor pics of course, and wedding pics.

Hello Ark,

Is it fashionable to have your pictures in someone else computer? Like Janicholson stated you can buy 1
terabite drive fir $75. Evenn a USB drives or an SD card are available in sizes that will store ten
times more pictures that you have. I don't cloud either. Get the pictures out of storage and in your
hands!

I was using PhotoBucket to post pictures on another forum. It was convenient and fast, and a direct download was very slow. PhotoBucket changed their policy and I have about 2,000 photographs which no longer show up. All are kept on my computer but the hosting service was used to facilitate sharing on a forum. I suspect there are many others in the same boat.

It is easier to post pictures on YT but as you know it is slow as well.

This could be a problem for me with TinyPic-"Images that are not viewed for 90 days will be removed from TinyPic."

^^^^This is why I used Photobucket. ^^^^^
I keep 3 or 4 copies my .jpg files on different drives and computers, I don't use any "cloud" storage.
What's bothering me is that now, any of the pics I've linked through PBucket to the various sites I'm on are no longer available, and the only way to make them available on line again without a WHOLE lot of work is to pay their ransom.

ARk,

Check out IMAGEEVENT.com ,25. /year and no hassel.

Not to defend Photobucket, but their terms of use for free accounts say no "image linking or 3rd party image hosting". By creating a lot of links to your PB images, you got their attention and now they are just exercising their rights under the terms of use. Of course, they make it super easy to violate those terms of use.

Their terms of use changed less than a week before they stopped hosting millions of pictures.

I can say I am done with photobucket too. The pop ads have increased exponentially making their site a total pain to use now.

Now that my pics will not not link then heck with em I am not going to fight their pop up adds either.

ell! I see no reason to use someone else computer that is a Share site. None of my pictures are copyrited but I don't like the sharing bit. Takes longer to post here, but you can't use any content here without permission,

Guido.
