Tractor Damages Trailer, Flees Scene

State police are investigating an incident along Wyalusing-New Albany Road in Terry Township on June 21 sometime around 2:30 p.m. Traffic was reportedly down to a single lane for construction when a large red farm tractor was traveling across the bridge and struck a construction trailer causing the rear door to fall off. The driver of the tractor then fled the scene toward Wyalusing Borough. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact state police at Towanda.

I've seen it done. Used to be a couple guys around here that would get a kick out of nailing mailboxes. They'd try to catch them with the side of the implement and keep going, laughing the whole time.

That's pretty risky around here, lots of mailboxes that would probably rip the implement off and roll the tractor around, could even be fatal to them. It would be a bad thing for a farmer to discover their innocent child just wiped out his tractor or worse.

I know about 5, or 6 years ago I was behind a JD 4430 pulling a 6RN No-Till Planter. The guy driving hit a street sign at full speed, & it sounded like a gun going off from my vehicle. Was looking at the driver, & He never even flinched. I really don't think he knew anything happened. Passed Him, & a mile or so later saw a full size truck with a trailer parked along the same road with a guy building fence. Told him what just happened, & I never saw a guy run to save vehicle as fast as He did before, or since!!!

My guess would be the truck driver was trying to bully the farmer! I see drivers of cars and trucks trying to get as close to farm equipment as they can on two lane state roads. Living on a high trafficked some what hilly state road I some times have to follow large fold up implements for a couple miles before I can pass. You can see the displeasure on the face of some drivers as they have to get over meeting the farm machinery. Some areas where guard rails are on both sides of the road there is only room for the equipment. When bulling a farmer in these areas you loose! People seem to forget that the two lane roads are farm to market roads.

The article mentions a construction trailer so it was likely parked. The article also mentions crossing a bridge, but does not clarify the location of the trailer. Perhaps the trailer was unattended and the damage was noticed after the tractor vacated. English is a tough language and we know the media has yet to master the language.
