Case 350 doser

I am new to dozers and am looking at a case 350 with a six way blade and a winch. I think it is from the 60's but I am not really sure, hours are unknown to me. They are asking 7500 for it. The undercarriage is like new. Is this price in the ballpark. What things should I inspect before I make a decision?
I would be using it for some light grading around a new house site and also for putting roads in for my sugarbush. Thanks for the help!

The price is on the high end of the scale, but if the track system is as good as you say and the winch operates as it should, and overall condition, paint/sheet metal, etc. are all good it is worth that money. I would look over the blade frame closely for cracks and/or welding repairs. That would be an indicator of how hard a life it had. You didn't mention if it was gas or diesel, or anything about how well the engine starts and runs.
Don't expect it to be a CAT D8 machine though. It won't push out large trees, but it will be very handy to maintain a sugar bush. We have used Case 310 dozers on the farm and in the sugar bush for years.

It is Diesel engine. I am not sure if that is good or bad. I have yet to go look at it because I really don't know what to look for. I plan on checking it out this week. Is there a way to check the winch other than pulling something with it? Is it run off hydraulics or Pto? Is it a comparable machine to a JD 350? Or 1010? I really do appreciate the feedback on this.

If it is a Case 350 diesel it will be a mid to late 70's model and it is comparable in size and
power to a JD 350. I remember a lot of them used in the log woods years ago, operators liked them
because they steer easy and the controls are conveniently mounted and they were also easy to work
on and service. The winches I am familiar with were hydraulic, they had 3 position valves mounted
on the operators platform to the right of the operator, the functions were simple, a brake
position for hauling the load after it had been winched up, detent, or nuetral position for
unspooling and of course the winching position. I can remember the 3 way valves sticking or by-
passing and winch would be hard to spool off by hand, many times it would have to be pulled off
by tieing to a tree but that was minor stuff and the valves were simple and cheap to rebuild. If
the machine has been sitting any length of time you can just about count on the winch being
somewhat tight but it should loosen up with use. I doubt I would pay 7500 for a 350, not because
of anything wrong with one just more because the size of the machine limits what it can do,
although if you take your time you could probably do a whole lot more with it than is commonly
thought.

i went and looked at it yesterday and it seemed to run well. It steers fine in both directions. One thing I notice was that the valve cover breather had some pressure when I plugged it with my thumb. There was no oil comming out the tube just pressure. Is this something I should worry about?
The machine has been welded in a few places including the front undercarriage rollers. It looks like they were building up weld to protect the area where the chain rides or take up slack maybe?
The chains and rollers still had yellow paint on them so I think it is in good shape as far as that goes.
Should I stay away from this based on what I have found?
If not what would be a fair price to offer? Thanks again

So I bought this dozer and am looking for a service manual for it. Does anyone have an electric copy they might like to share? Thanks for the help
