Have lost all hydraulics and transmission . Have changed hydraulic filter and cleaned screen . Guess hydraulic pump is not working. Any suggestions If it is the pump , how do out get to it the easiest way, i.e., where is it located ?
 

What type trans? If it has a quad-range trans then trans pump drive shaft could be stripped. I'd suggest to check trans pump pressure on LH at clutch valve housing. Pressure should be 155-165 psi.
 
In case you don't know what Jim is referring to the transpump or charge pump as some call it is
driven by a long hex shaft accessible through the plug with the square drive hole for removal. It is
below the mount location of the 3 point top link. Pull it out and look for a rounded of section of the
hex. Only applies to quad-range tractors.

I see from your thread on JD forum that you've determined your tractor has a QR trans. Rounded off hex trans pump drive shaft is very likely especially if your tractor has high hrs of use.

got the old shaft out. Would you believe it had broken about three feet from the back. We will try to remove the remaining piece with a magnet, otherwise I believe we have to split the tractor in half to get at the piece. Any other ideas?
 
have taken the cover off the top of the transmission to try to access the broken piece, no luck. Any ideas how to get the broken one piece out without separating the tractor in half?
 
The shaft goes through the transmission. Can some of the trans be removed from the top to get hold of the broken part of the shaft?
 
Something could have gotten through the pump screen or it's not there and into the pump to jam it, that would shear the shaft off and probably put a nice little twist into it so you can't get it through the gear or shaft supports.

Probably going to have to split it. It's possible you could pull the rockshaft housing and remove the pump and maybe you'll get lucky.
