New tractor

I am thinking of replacing my John Deere 2555 with a new 5085m should I get the 2 speed or not the one I am looking at has the 16 speed transmission with no hi low but other than that is equipped OK. Any thoughts or advice Thanks

To my knowledge they do NOT have a hydraulic Hi-LO on the JD 5085M tractors. That is the model that replaced the JD 5425 and they did not have it either. I looked at the parts break down and there is nothing listed for a Hi-Lo.

As far as the tractor. I think you will like it. The reliability is pretty good when compared to the Hydraulic issues the Mannheim built JD 2555 can have.

I would keep the 2555. I have seen too many expensive problems with the newer tractors. My neighbor had a good 2755 and traded for a 6310 and it was in the shop a lot. After about 2 years it was gone.
