Farmall cub

I do my yard (1.5 acres or so) with my Cub and a 5 foot Woods finish mower and have for well over 10 years. Works perfectly. Extremely tall grass requires first gear, and tall, wet, heavy grass may require raising the deck a bit or taking a partial cut on the first pass to get things started, but normal mowing is done in second gear. It's a great lawnmowing combination, and many, many thousands of Cubs spent their whole lives doing exactly that, as they were very popular with places like counties, townships and municipalities for maintenance mowing.

Last ones, late 70s, were supposed to be 15. The ones built in Europe were 15. That woods is 60 inches. What is way nicer is a CUB Low Boy.

Maybe, as long as your finish mower is made for a cub.
Or you can reverse the direction via the belt/pulleys.
The PTO spins opposite of other tractors.
I mowed my yard for years with a 48 cub and a belly mower.
Mine was a 5 ft Woods belly mower and was really too much.
Especially with the cub lacking live PTO.

Anyway, the mower is gone, the cub is still here.
Now relinquished to show and parade duties.

A 4 foot mower will not quite cut the tracks out on a cub. I have a 1968 Low Boy with a 5ft. International three blade deck it does okay, but newer, more powerful mowers are much better, especially with a live pto. One thing that I can say for Cubs; they really ride good, with those 24 inch rear wheels. Just be aware that you cannot stop and back up very easily with them. The blades and tractor have to completely stop for each gear change.

I have a 49 cub w/hyds.,has a mid mount grader blade and is real handy when you want to put dirt in a certain area. Not good for pushing snow.

cuby, my '48 had a blade that could be mounted as a belly
grader or a front mount blade. On the front it did Ok for pushing
snow. The limitation was the weight of the tractor.
It did not lift very high either. Picture shows it all the way up.
