What the heck ar these things.

They are 5-6" long and about the diameter of a horse hair. Yesterday was the first ones I've seen, but the wifey said there were some out in the flower gardens also. Their head is moveing all the time and they move like a snake.

Not sure but you may have come closer to the name than you think.

There is such a thing as a horse hair worm or horse hair snake.
But I thought they were browner.

Horse hair worm. It's a parasite they are born In bugs like crickets and when they are adults they make the bug host go to water where they bust out of the hosts body.

Thanks for the insight. In my 70+ years I have never seen them. It makes sense though, as it has been extremely wet here this year.
