I would have bet that they should have been bad!

I plowed up about 3 acres of ground for my garden this spring. Been kind of wet spring but finally got everything in the ground,

I still had some unused garden space left over. I dug around in the freezer and found a bag full of plastic seed packets that were sealed and not opened.

The packets of seed were cucumber, egg plant, summer squash, spaghetti squash, mixed gourds, lunar pumpkins, hales best cantaloupe, Connecticut pumpkin, Crimson watermelon, Charleston grey watermelon and whatever else I forgot to list.

Anyway, I planted those last week and have been checking them each day. Finally, by today they have all sprouted and popped up. The odd part was...these packets of seeds were all dated from 1998!...19 YEARS OLD and they germinated. That's pretty awesome.

Last week, I also planted 2 pounds of Jolly Time popcorn, 2 pounds of Cranberry dried beans and 2 pounds more of Great Northern dried beans. All bought at the grocery store. All of them have germinated and popped through the ground too.

Grew pop corn at least 15 years ago just for giggles. Entered it in the judgeing the next year and pulled a blue ribbon. People thought it was defective till they read the lable. It poped pretty good too.

Lady I know found some seeds in a book given to her the date on them was 1948 Planted them and they were the best sandwich tomatoes I have ever had. They were called ox heart I think.

Common story. I heard of some seeds from ancient Egypt that came out of a tomb and grew. Still, it's mind-boggling!

Can't remember, but think it was mostly grain seeds?

What blows my mind are seeds that simply will not germinate until after some horrific event, such as a fire. Nature truly is a marvelous mystery!
