Worked on stacking seed corn pallets.

I have been doing some work for the "other" seed corn company. This week we worked on the program for stacking bags on a pallet. It is interesting all the parameters that go into correctly stacking a pallet. I guess I will never look at a pallet of seed corn the same way.

David only you could understand this.. EARLY in the automation world, A brewery I hauled out of installed a line where the cases were stacked on pallets by a machine. Some way it used electric eyes to know when to turn the pallet to get the right pattern. One night a truck driver walked in and made picture with the camera using a flash . I was standing there when pallets of beer went wrong. It was some kind of mess. I am Sure automation has came a long way since late 50s .

Lighting is still an issue, especially with cameras, bar code readers and sensors that are not polarized.

A somewhat related note, I recall hearing a guy talking about loading an open truck. Always have the product oriented so that the persons who follow that truck down the road, can see and read the label, and make a lasting impression. He said that it doesn't cost anything more for the advertizing.

You want to learn to stack right try loading on a flat rack in a field full of woodchuck holes or try stacking on a wagon where the boards are on wrong.
Before automation using a hay fork you also had a pattern to follow if you didn't it wouldn't stab right. Dang I'm getting old remembering that .
