Won't you know cutting hay = rain

So the weather guessers here said no rain all week. So I fire up the BA and start cutting hay. After about 10 rounds it starts to sprinkle a little bit so I figure not going to do much. Make another round and now it start so come down pretty good. By the time I get up close to the house it is coming down real good and all I need is a bar of soap to take my evening show. Oh and all this time the sun is still shining so I guess I am just under that one cloud that had to start leaking

Easiest way I know of to make the rain STOP is to tear up and re-seed part of the lawn. It has worked that way the last 3 times I tried reseeding.

I'm right with you Old. Went to a hay field when I got home from the Dr. today and I got drenched & darn was it ever a cold rain. Should have put the drum mower on the cab tractor. Keith

Didn't get hay rained on. Just before I went to mow hay Sunday it poured and we got about half an inch. Today I flew home from work to find that half of my farm got rained on just before I got home. The half that had the fields I was going to cut. Just enough that I didn't like the idea of mowing it and letting it steam over night before starting to dry.

I think the weather guessers should be paid on their performance.

Yep BTDT many many times over the years and know the hay will be just fine even though it got a bit wet. Fog was real heavy tonight when I put up the birds so will sort of steam dry in the next day or so

I always bring up the weather radar for the US Check what clouds and precip are west and SW before I mow.

They used to call me "The Rain Maker". But I have gone and mowed in the rain a few times, just a matter of timing. If you turn a field over each spring and seed it down, at least you can say that the rain that is falling on your hay is helping you in another field at the same time.
