1219 JD mower conditioner. Knife remove

Must be having a senior moment. Can't see how knife comes out. When you take the bolt out knife wont clear, gear box arm. Just got it. No book. Thanks.
 
They will come out , ya have to have the pitman arm in the right location . IMHO that haybine is a piece of junk. as i am so sick of working on my buddy's . Make sure you use a torque wrench to tighten the bolt back up when you put it back in . And depending on what guards ya have depends on how you set them . Here again a total pain in the drain . Never ever try and run it folded up as it will get expensive real fast along with a lot of work to repair . Keep and eye on the drive shafts to the top and bottom rolls and do not let them get loose at the end of the rolls .
 
Take the bolt out and then the pin comes out vertically. Then you can pull the knife out.

Check the bearing in the knife head and wear on the pin. Replace if they are worn they will hammer resulting in broken parts!
No they are not a bunch of junk.
 
Thanks guys. The pinch bolt needs to come all the way out. Didnt know there was a tang on the big pin. Thanks again. Mowed alfalfa before noon.one day baled next day after dinner. 12 percent moisture. Rolls work.
