My grandpa has a ford 8n and he wants to change it from a positive ground to a negative ground. What does he have to do in order to change it properly? Thanks in advance.

Just a quick question ...... why does he want to change it? It works just as well with positive ground as negative ground. Just make sure
that the ground cable attached to the - battery post is tagged with a label that it is positive ground (as a reminder). Also a good idea to
paint the top of the positive battery post and the top edge of the ground cable battery connector red. Battery boosting is the only problem
I could think of unless it has an alternator conversion already but it would already be negative ground probably if that were the case.

One sentence above should read ......

"Just make sure that the ground cable attached to the + battery post is tagged with a label that it is positive ground (as a reminder)".

6 or 12 volts?, generator or alternator? Front or side mount distributor?

1. If using generator with external regulator be sure regulator is denoted for negative ground
2. Reverse ammeter connections
3. If side mount distributor with round can coil, reverse + and - connections. With negative ground - to side of distributor. Front mount coil connection can not be changed.
4. Repolarize if using a generator. Do not polarize an alternator
5. Connect battery negative ground. As suggested mark battery cables and note that it is negative ground.

get another regulator then change the wires on the amp guage and polarize the gen. Why change the polarity for what reason.
