Having A Heat Wave

Wow is it hot this morning. Came in for dinner and its pushing 90 degrees with a strong SE wind. Few days ago I was wearing a jacket coveralls and toque riding the lawn tractor, now this. Got wind burn riding the Massey out in the pasture fixing fence. How many times have I looked over that hood at -40 wind chill? Lots of wood ticks on me when I came in.

Is 77 now and supposed to hit 88 tomorrow. UGH! Have only had a couple of 70° days up till now. At least they were nice. Oh, and to top it all off, someone is burning a lot of acreage and smoking us out!

It was 38* at the job site this morning. I looked twice, but with the clear sky it was right. Headed to 78* today. Rusty you might have to explain what a toque is. Pa called them zipfelkaupf.

I just came in to cool off a few minutes and I am soaking wet. Been putting up the trellis for pole beans. About 200 feet of row.

38?! Now that is too hot to work. Must be near 100 degrees.
Toque is my standard head gear in cold weather. You can see me wearing not just one, but two of them in this video shot when it was decidedly cooler.

Got to know that term when I watched "The Great White North in the late 70's - 80's. Then in the 90's we ran dirt cars against a crew from Thunder Bay Ontario. They raced when the weren't driving logging truck of the Zamboni at the hockey rink. (i'm not making that part up.) They wore toques at the early spring races.

DB 4600, who was from Thunder Bay? The dirt late model I worked on raced against Tommy Nesbitt a few times and Joel Cryderman numerous times.

We got to know Cryderman pretty good. We raced at Sauk Centre and Cedar Lake with the #44 Mopar until it burnt up in the shed fire at Frank's. Jim Brugeman was Frank's driver. I knew of Nesbitt, but didn't get to know him like we did Cryderman. We always gave Joel a hard time because he had a unfair advantage with inside weight.
Who did you run with?

The 100% Ethanol powered # 22 of Randy Schilling, Britton SD for 13 years. Joel was in Aberdeen pretty regularly at specials as well as Huron. Ran against Tommy at Cedar Lake once. Knew Tommy from about 1969 when he started coming to St. Cloud Golden Spike where I worked on #6 Mel Grile and later #1 of Loyal Skuza.
