anyone using a cell wifi signal booster? I get one bar of cell service cant use the phone in the house. I use a verizion wifi for internet super slow a lot of the time im looking at a weboost brand booster can anyone tell me if these or any brand are worth the money

About the same situation with me & I started with the under $100 Wilson signal booster (now WeBoost) & didn't cut it, doubled up $ and next model still didn't cut it & finally at $500, that model does the job with antenna at about 30 feet up..

We had zero signal in our new house (metal building). I
bought a weboost and now have a great signal inside, in fact
it's better than we used to get outside. It consists of a outside
antenna inside amplifier and sender. Think it cost around $350

I posted about this just a couple days ago...maybe even yesterday! Dang memory - guess it really is the first thing to go. Anyway, we live in an extreme fringe area and use a Novatel T-1114 data router/modem with voice in our home. I also bought a WeBoost booster (got the refurbished model for $359 about a year ago), got the booster hooked up, antennae outside, and got even less of a signal than the Novatel unit did sitting on the inside in a south-facing window. South-facing, as our nearest tower is....south! So I'm not overly impressed with them.

If ALL you have is a smart phone, then yes, I believe the WeBoost will make a noticed improvement. But I cannot speak highly enough of using this "phone box". You can still sign up for the unlimited plan, but this way you can get even more 4G speed. Only thing is, you cannot surf or look anything up on the phone box. It is ONLY meant as a means to connect with the cell tower. You must connect a corded or cordless phone to it, or you can surf the web using your PC or other device. Likewise, as it's a modem, you can use it to wirelessly connect various such items, like a printer for example. In order to use our printer without being limited by a printer cable, I turn on the printer (which connects to the modem), go online with the PC, and print. Wife can also print from her smart phone to the same printer as well. I can connect any PC in the house to the internet and send files to be printed. Now, even if internet happens to be down, your modem will still work for acting as that wireless link between devices. Took a while for me to wrap my head around that part of it!

We have three different wireless services. Verizon cell phone, Verizon wireless home phone, and Verizon wireless Internet. None work at our
house or property without an antenna. We have roof-top antennas for all three and with those - all works great. Goes from 1 bar to 3-4
bars. No amp. Note I do have several amps but do not use them anymore. When we had 3G, the Wilson amp worked pretty well. When we went to
4GLTE, we got a new Wilson amp but it makes little difference. It shows bar increase, but it does not work any better. Rooftop antenna is
thee way to go.

Our roof-top cell-phone, home-phone, and Mi-fi antennas on roof. Have them in two places. Northern lower peninsula of MI, and eastern
upper peninsula of MI.

Bought Mom one of those Weboost amplifiers for Christmas, and set it up in the upstairs bedroom window. On my new phone I now get 4 bars of 4G where without it I would only get one, or no 4G at all. The old phone went from constantly flipping back and forth between 3G and 4G to a solid 3-bar 4G signal.

The booster only has limited range though. You need to be within 15' of it to get the boosted signal.

I've read where they seem to work better under an eave than mounted on the roof on an antenna mast. My experience supports that to a degree. Since it works so well I'm not going to climb on the roof to find out if mounting it on the antenna mast would make it any better.

I use them in the RV since so many locations we travel to have poor service and YES my cell phone booster amplifier (not Wilson but a knock off) works great, more bars and much better performance. In addition to my cell phone booster amp, I shopped until I could find an older Verizon Jetpack Mobile Hotspot THAT HAD THE EXTERNAL ANTENNA PORT and that also improves performance when coupled to my external antenna. Some Jetpacks DO NOT have the external antenna port and I recommend one that does. When using my cell phone signal booster amplifier with the rooftop antenna, instead of the furnished 5 inch tall antenna I have one that's nearly 5 feet tall with more gain and it works MUCH better.

SUMMARY My cell signal booster with amplifier (not Wilson) works great and significantly improves performance and my Verizon Jetpack Mobile Hotspot works better if I add the external antenna

OTHERS MAY HAVE DIFFERENT EXPERIENCES I can ONLY report on how MY TWO UNITS perform which is GREAT.

We had the same situation, or maybe a bit worse. You could not talk in the house at all. Bought a WE-Boost booster. Mounted the outdoor antenna up high, and the inside
one was pointed to the basement. (wife had a leather shop down there) Even pointed down, it boosted the signal outside!! Well worth the $700. but it only worked on
Verizon. We moved to the south west corner of Nebraska, and we are stuck with Veiro. No booster here now.

thank you fellas for taking the time to respond yall gave me a bunch of good information. im using a Verizon mifi 6620l it has a antenna plug in on it. I just figured it was to extend the wifi signal not the incoming signal. funny part of this is they installed a new tower on my wife's uncles place which is about 5 miles away from us. we figure boy we got it made now ,wrong answer it actually made our service little worse. go figure ?

The external antenna port on my Verizon Jetpack greatly improves incoming signal reception when coupled to my 5 ft external antenna I WOULDNT BE WITHOUT THE ANTENNA PORT.

John John you of all people should know WILSON always works beat and in always worth the extra be it money or effort . LOL

That should help you quite a lot!

There are available maps online that can help you in aiming towards the best tower, but if you already know which is closest (AND is your network!!), then shouldn't have a problem.

That is the Mifi I have and I use that port to hook to our roof-top antenna. We'd have no Internet here without the Mifi with a hard-wire
antenna port. We almost switched to AT&T a few months ago until I found out their mobil "hotspot" has no antenna port. That made it useless
for our place. My only complaint is it is such a small, ill-fitting port. We have to hold our antenna cable on with a rubber band.

Here are are hookups to our roof-top antennas. Worked better then an amp with a smaller antenna on the ground. Hardest part was finding all
the adapters to get the coax hooked up. Note that the Verizon wireless home-phone system has been amazing. Gets a stronger signal then our
cell phone or Mifi in most places. One of those rare things we bought that greatly exceeded our expectations. Still has our land-line # and
has been amazing. We take our home-phone whenever we travel.

thank you JDEM that adaptor is supposed to be in this kit I ordered earlier today im gona stick it on a 15 foot piece of pipe and stand it up to start with. then go from there if I need to raise it on up

I also use an 11 dbi gain external antenna with adapter for my Verizon Jetpack AND IT MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE AND IMPROVEMENT. The Jetpack antenna port is a bit flimsy so I secured the adapter cable firmly to it so as to ease any strain or bending where the cable plugs into the Jetpack. In many locations I don't need the external antenna but its sure handy to have in low signal areas.

I'm sure you will like it, I do mine. I may purchase an AT & T Mobley mobile hotspot HOWEVER I have concerns since it DOES NOT have an external antenna port PLUS I don't find as much coverage with ATT.

On the road the combination of my fake Wilson Cell booster amplifier for the wifes phone and my Verizon Jetpack I'm pretty well connected EXCEPT some of the remote Utah and Colorado and Nevada mountain areas grrrrrrrrrrrr

Well said JDEM, that's been exactly our experience with Verizon Connect. The only product that I've ever been satisfied with from Verizon. We have our original number and hand set.

I just went through this with verizon, and my wife uses AT&T. we are too far from the city to get good service, dropped calls and super slow if any internet. The jetpack got a slightly better signal than my phone. I considered the jetpack antenna but that wouldn't help with phones and multiple carriers.

I went with the Wilson Weboost, it was the middle one or up to 5000 sq.ft. which I think is highly overrated on coverage. Anyway this booster works real good, the extra benefit is it boosts all frequencies so the wifes phone works great too. Both towers were in the same general area to point the antenna. I also used the same mast to mount a TV antenna as another bonus

I'm about 10 miles NW of you, also Verizon, also not working in the house. Trying to find solution without going back to the land line. If you get lucky will
you let me know? I wish you luck for both of us! ;-)

hey guys little update I got my antenna today I stuck it on a pipe and have leaned up against the porch just above the roof line right now laying on the kitchen table I have two bars signal. laying on table I have never had any signal at all! planning to get a push pole and see if I can get any better signal but this thing is flying right now faster than ever! Warren im down on Harpeth ridge off of 49 east

I was thinking you were on Maple Valley Rd. I used to go through there years ago and there is a farm on the west side with tractors. I'm 3 road miles ssw of
Vanleer off of Sylvia Rd. (235 that goes past the airport). That 49 has some nice curves if you have a good handling vehicle or motorcycle! ;-)

Thanks for the update, I had the Samsung S6 phone working pretty good here until they downloaded the new 7.0 OS a month ago, now it barely works, I'm bummed.

I've been trying to get them to build a tower in my field, they won't go for it.
