Bull gear seal leaking on tractor, I fixed it a few years ago and cleaned up the discs with brake cleaner and sanded them. After use, heat brought out soaked oil. So I soaked them in gasoline for a couple days. Now I'm boiling them on a fish fryer. Is it a dumb idea? I have nothing to loose. Next step is to buy new brakes

I asked about removing oil from a clutch disc and was told to boil it in water. I have not been able to verify that it has worked, but I hope it has.

several years ago I was working on the emergency break on my jeep. the breaks were like small brake shoes and lining was near new but were il soaked. was told to spray them with carb clenar I believe and burn the oil off with a propane torch. I think I just set mine on fire and let the oil burn off. I don't think I would do this on regular vehicle brakes, but it worked good on the emergency break shoes

Back about 1968 oil soaked brake shoes on 1960 Rambler the dealer used an O_A torch to burn the oil out. Since that time I have done it on several tractor brake shoes. Think I have done it also on car brakes with pads on front.

I've burned a lot of oil out brake shoes with propane torch, just keep heat on them & wipe with a rag once in awhile. When you get them dry rough them up with sandpaper.

Once the oil has soaked in, it takes a long time to get "most" of it out. I don't think you will ever get it all out. Most of the time, it is more economical to replace them than to try to dry them out. After all, your time is worth something.

I knew a guy who would throw oiled Harley clutch plates on his shed roof and the sun and weather would remove the oil.

I washed a set in solvent, steamed cleaned them, brake cleaned them and left them lay outside for a few days, cleaned them up pretty good. They work good.
