Blew another hyd hose on my backhoe part 2

So I did install a 1/2 inch hose on it but here is what happened and what I also found.
The suction hose at the pump is 1 inch but the power side of the pump is only 1/2 inch going into 1/2 inch hard line so going with a 1/2 inch hose where there once was a 3/4 inch hose does not matter since it is feed by 1/2 inch hoses and hard lines. As for why the 3/4 inch line was o nit who knows since this back hoe was made to fit by some one other then a factory mounting. This is by the way on a 1950 Ford 8N so even at best it is a slow working machine but it does the job. In the past month I have moved so much dig and rock I could cover the whole machine so deep it would not be touched by a 6 foot fence post driven into the pile

You know for each line you change, you create yet another weak link...LOL

I had one on the boom of my old 3500 blow the other week. I can close to changing them all but it was going to take more time (and money) than I had to get them all done right then...so I held off for now.

Even so I did change two that came off the bucket control valve and went to the tilt cylinder. As bad as they looked, and where they were, I know if one blew I would be directly in the line of fire and get drowned in oil.....and that's not something I looked forward to happening....LOL

Some 15 yrs ago I bought an old Ford 755 backhoe. It was over 20 yrs old when I bought it. Guy delivered it to my property. I went there after work all dressed up, climbed up in it and started to dig a hole right where it was parked. (why? because I could. ) Right off the bat, it blew a hose and covered me up and down with hydraulic oil. I hadn't owned it for 10 minutes yet. I've replaced all of the hoses on the loader portion over the years, a couple of the backhoe hoses are leaking, so I'm going to replace all of them this summer (before I get another bath  )

One of the perks of my job is I have a hydraulic hose crimper and rolls of hydraulic hose in all pressure ratings and sizes plus a good stock of flat face and JIC ends in my garage at home and in a storage crib in the plant. I keep all the scraps from doing prototype builds for customers so if I need something for myself I use left-overs or scraps. One of these days I'll replumb my 5100 White planter completely and build new hydraulic tubes for my loader.

Ya hyd oil showers are not fun. This last hose broke in such a way I could push it down by a piece of metal which deflected the oil spray long enough to get the bucket on a pile of dirt. I hate leaving the bucket down in the hole I am digging if I do not have to
