New Holland TB110

My NH TB110 will start, but will die after about 10 seconds. I have followed the owners manual regarding the fuel system cleaning (filters, line blockage, fuel tank shut-off, ect). I can get it to run continuously, but only after I bleed the air. To my knowledge there is no air in the system as I have been bleeding it for the past 4 days. Once it runs, its perfect. Let it sit overnight and it dies immediately after it starts. Any thoughts?

On my tb100 it would just die at random times, but would start back. I traced it to the wires going to the switch. They were loose enough to trigger shut off solenoid. Easy enough fix, aggregating to find.

I am not familiar with that particular tractor,but--I would look for and find all the check valves in the fuel system. It's either losing prime on the pickup side,or,the return. There should be,I believe,a check valve on either one or the other,or both.A check valve's purpose is to hold fuel in the injectors, and at the pump. One side or the other is bleeding off over night, because it apparently is losing prime if you have to bleed it in the morning to get it started.Usually there is a check valve on the back of the head keeping the injectors full. And there usually is one in the pickup/supply side near the pump, maybe at the last filter before the pump. That is the one I would suspect/inspect first.Mark

I would wager that the lift pump is starting to fail.... those things have an electric pump on top of the filter head. That's where the check valves would be, I think... but basically I went through the same nonsense last summer with a TS90. A new lift pump cured it.
I'm not saying there isn't a leak somewhere between the water separator and the tank... but if there was it's more than likely you would never get prime.

Thanks Mark. I came in this morning with low hopes with it sitting over the weekend. It definitely sounds like a starvation problem. I'll go look up the check valves and go from there.

Thanks!!

Thanks Rod. My test light shows that I am getting power to the lift pump, however that doesn't tell me if the check valves are good or bad.

Thank you.

You can easily hear the lift pump running.... but that doesn't mean it's lifting anything. Mine would whiz away until the battery went dead and never lift a damn thing. If you have an aftermarket type of lift pump you could plumb that in for a test and see if you get fuel up. I just cut the line between the separator bowl and filter head, hooked the lift pump in... and I got fuel up right away. So I knew that was my problem...
