A guy at work posted an ad on the company web site for a Ford 1500, 2WD, diesel, asking $3,000. Tire are turf, about half the tread left, claims it runs good. Shows only 71 hours but I'm sure that is way under actual. Dash gauges look like they have been replaced, other than the hour meter. I'm in Southeastern/Central Ohio area. I just have 8 acres to take care of, most in pasture for llamas, so don't need a big tractor but looking for something a bit newer than my Ns.

Anyone have experience with this or similar models, any thoughts as to the price (good or too high), parts availability, durability, etc. Thanks for what ever help you can lend!

going to take lot more the then 75 hours to wear tires half out. dont think u will be happy withturf tires. parts are geting high if u can find them. there good small tractors with a loader thay are handy buit with no power stering hard to stear . not to far off on the price but i would rather have 3000 ford gas and power stearing for the same money.

I have a Ford 1510 3 cylinder Shibauru diesel 4WD with FEL, so a distant cousin to your Ford 1500. I have not had to get many parts and have not had a problem in that area. The lack of power steering with the loader is a real negative. I have turf tires on rear and R4 tires on the front. Would I like rear ag tires, yes. But its not worth it for what I use it for (light loader work and brushogging). Other wise I don?t have many complaints.

I had a Ford 1500 but in 4x4. I would not buy it for the following 2 reasons.

When I bought it I could not tell there was anything major wrong with it. Starting using it hard and found out it had a cracked head. It cost me $1,000 for a reconditioned head, plus my time, gaskets, etc. Some parts such as this one are very hard to find and very expensive.

This tractor is very unstable compared to the Massey Ferguson 135 I got after selling the Ford. Just a 600lb box blade I could tell was hanging off the back. I can have 1,000lbs on the back of the Massey and not know it is there. I would go with something the size of my Massey, like wvfarmboy mentioned Ford 3000.

You got the best info you will ever get on a Ford 1500 over on the Ford board. The guys
there will not steer you wrong on a Ford, even if it is Japanese one. I bought mine new, I
work on tractors 6 days a week for a living.I own 6 Ford Tractors,including an 8N a 9N and
a 2000 4 Cyl Gas. Would I trade any of these for a 2WD 1500. Probably Not.

Not to insult you.. but...

its a hd lawnmower, not a tractor... works great until something breaks, and some parts can NOT be found, new or used...

For instance down here hydraulic pumps are not available and many have gone to pto pumps just to keep the loaders working...

And 3000 will buy a very good ford 3000 that all the parts can be had... and its a real tractor, not a light weight model...

Not picking on them as they are very good if used properly and for what they were designed for, but again, no parts makes them a pass....

Thanks for all the advise. I'll pass on it, it seemed a little high priced anyway, the lack of parts availability kills it. I'd rather have a 3 or 4000 anyway, but they seem to be very dearly priced around here. My brother had a 4000 before he moved to Florida, it was a great tractor. I wasn't on the farm when he sold it so had no use for it then.
