John Deere 1020 injector pump

I just recently bought a John Deere 1020 that was in non running condition. Needed few minor things but I am having trouble with the injector pump it is a roosa master CBC 6al pump. I have fuel at the pump but not at the injector lines, and my return line is pressurized and returning back into the tank any help would be appreciated thanks

not sure but think the JD 350 & 350B dozers used the same injection pump. Remove the protective cover (2 screws?) & look at the little glass plate behind it. Do you see 'mouse turds' behind the glass? These are the remains of a gasket that is blown.

Very few repair parts are available for a CBC inj pump. Sounds as if the valve that controls fuel is stuck closed. Maybe someone more knowledgeable on IP's than me will reply.

First, just like any other pump - you have to make sure the pump is
actually turning. Stanadyne Roosamaster C pump has a drive designed to
break if the pump turns too hard. Early Cs have hollow shear-bolts on
the timing/drive gear. Later Cs have a driveshaft that will snap in
two like the later DB an JDB pumps use. If the pump is known to be
turning - take out the electric solenoid plunger and then try to start
it. Easy to do. Just note that with that plunger out - if it DOES
start - you will not be able to shut it off with the key. The C pump
has similar features to the later DB an JDB pumps. Problem is - near
no parts available for it anymore. That is why Deere sold kits for the
1020 to adapt to a JDB pump if the CBC failed. Your C pump has a
rotary vane charge pump just like a JDB. C pump has a round timing
window instead of a rectangle. Metering valve is quite different with
rack and pinion gears to activate it. Shut-off fuel solenoid is a
little cylinder plunger that easily gets stuck and results in a no-
start.

Here are a few more images from the C tech manual. The CBC in many
ways was more reliable the the DB, JDB, and DB2 pumps that followed
it. No wacky umbrella seals on the driveshaft to leak and not plastic
ring to shatter on the governor. But all parts were discontinued
early 80s and that was that. I have a Deere 300 (yellow 1020) that
left the factory with a change-over kit and has a JDB on it.

Make sure your pump turns. Make sure the fuel solenoid is either
working or just remove it. Make sure the rack and pinion throttle is
working. NOTE - often if the pinion gear is worn out on the throttle
- you can just take it out and flip it over and get a lot more use out
of it.

Thanks for all the replies, the pump is turning so nothing sheeted off and so far I did take out the selinoid shutoff plunger which does work when the ign is on. Just to make sure I pulled it out and still no fuel at injector lines the rack and pinion seems to being moving ok, As far as I can tell everything seems to be working ok but I'm no expert when it comes to pumps. Is there anything internally that could be blocked up this tractor was sitting for at least 8 yrs before I got ahold of it

Yes, the two high-pressure pump plungers can get stuck. The only thing
that pushes them out is charge pressure from the little rotary vane
pump in back. You might be able to get them unstuck (if they ARE
stuck) with air-pressure. Just take off an injection line at the pump.
Hook some high-pressure air to the port where the line was and rotate
the engine until that port is in "inject" position. That will send air
back into the pump against those two plungers and sometimes it will
free them. This is also the way you can "air-time" and engine.

Thought maybe the dozer pump might be different from tractor pump. I remember water pump, alternator & one other thing were different but the block was the same.

So I checked everything everyone has said it could be as far as I can see seems to be working ok. I am just having no luck with this thing is there anyone who is still working on these pumps? I know they were replaced awhile back with another pump just a shot in the dark
