I have a sickle mower attached to my 1941 Farmall BN that I got a week ago.
The sickle mower is in working order and I plan on using it as soon as i get the a few rebuild kits for the tractor.
Does anyone have any idea how much the sickle mowers are selling for?

I don't know what it is worth but I know a sickle bar mower on a B or BN is handy. I built my BA just because I had a sickle bar mower that fit the wrecked A I had.

By the way if you have a local O'Reilly's auto parts store you can buy the carb kit and points from them I do it all the time

thanks,
i have not figured out how to load the photos. How do I post them.
We have an O'rileys going in soon.

A sickle bar mower is a very nice thing to have. Kinda like going
along with a big pair of sissors. I rebuilt a mower for my Gravely two
years ago. They work very nice and handy. Now here are the problems.
They get the c4ap beat out of them. If you want the go to the expense
of rebuilding them you will be rewarded. Let us know if ya want to get
into it and HOW to get parts and how to assemble things. Not really
hard but it sure helps to have somebody standing over your shoulder.
You can find tons of parts NOS on. Ebay for pretty good prices.

Looks just like the one I have on my BA and it was the reason I built the BA in the first place. I had the mower and need one to cut hay so I took 3 dead tractors and built one good one

As others have said a sickle bar mower can be handy. I have had one sitting for twenty years that was given to me but I haven't used it yet. I need to get it out and fix it up for trimming around fields. Balanced head mowers are much more highly thought of than a pitman stick type like yours.

IIRC, I paid about $250 for mine last summer in an online auction. It's an MF belt drive in working order. Only used it once to test it after buying. Plan is to use it to cut creek banks, around the pond and like a hedge trimmer (vertical position) to cut back tree branches that hang into paths and grassy areas. My test run along a tree line worked great. No more branches hitting me in the face when I brush hog :D

If you're going to try and use it, get the manual and see how warn it is first. Nothing, absolutely nothing, is more aggravating than a sickle mower that doesn't work right. Be prepared to spend some money and a lot of time figuring it out.
