Mystry Hydraulic Fittings - HELP!

Hey everyone!

So, I'm trying to replace some hoses on a Westendorf loader from (as best that I can tell) the early to mid 90's. The fittings from the tractor to the loader are standard 3/8
NPT, but thats where the normality ends.

Does anyone recognize these mystery fittings? They have the same threads as Flare fittings from home depot but obviously the "tube" wont fit through a flare fitting.

I thought they might be O-Ring straight fittings except those dont work either. Measured across the OD of the male fitting is .746 inches, and across the ID of the female
fitting is .791 inches.

I spent most of the day trying to ID these and got absolutely no where. I'm *this* close to hacking them off and replacing these junk hard lines with hoses, and welding
new fittings onto the cylinders themselves.

Also - the shiny fitting is a 1/2 NPT

I went through the same thing a few years ago,you have to go to westendorf,or a westendorf dealer,as they have their own fittings. Not very nice if you needed a hose on the weekend or at night.

Oh jeeze, thats infuriating. Any sources on this or links to "approved" fittings? Thanks

Looks like common stuff to me.

Just go to any good hydraulic place and they should be able to fix you up. Either with hoses with the correct ends or some type of adapter kit.

I have always been able to get all the right fittings at a good shop.

Thats what i thought also - until I tried to buy it two
different places and used an online reference book
to compare it to all sorts of obscure fittings, with no
match ups...

I dont even know where to find a good hydraulic
shop. Theres only one near me (Fort Worth) with
almost no information about them online. I called
today around 4 and no one answered. I dont know if
theyre even still in business.

Looks like a steel ferrel coupling used to hook hyd. hoses on to steel hyd. lines. Should be able to get at a good hyd. shop. Try NAPA I made several of these over the years.

They look like compression fittings for steel tube. 1/2" tube uses 3/4 -16 thread.

I went through the same type of thing just today. Find a good hydraulic shop. Not the dealer. My hoses were 510 dollars at the Hardi sprayer dealer. But I paid 367 dollars at the hyd. shop.
My fittings turned out to be some British thread with a M60 degree cone.

Westendorf uses an inverted flare. When I blew one, I took it to the Kubota dealer. They have a great parts man he looked at it and said "I'll bet that is off a westendorf loader."

Hey Lanse, check out this site to help you ID the fittings. Now days there are ALOT of them out there, and some of them look alike. That being the case, you'll need to look at the basic shape, and take some measurements with a set of calipers. Often that will be enough but if not, check the angles as best you can to narrow it down.
Coupling ID

I believe these are DIN 24deg cone light series. Measure the OD of the threads, should be 0.866 (M22). Gates product number for 1/2" is 8G-15FDLORX 7100-9642

Other option is SAE Flareless. It will have 3/4-16 thread. Gates product number 8G-8MFA 7100-0650.

Use Gates M2T hose to get a two wire braid construction and it'll hold up and last forever.

Lance,
When I need hoses, I go to town and buy the fittings at place that makes hoses. Their prices are reasonable so I may buy extra and save gas coming to town. They can make hoses while you wait. They also sell a protective sleeve to put over hoses.

I was told NAPA makes hoses too. I have two hydraulics shops that can make hoses too.
If you have a loader you need to find source of parts.

My rule, If you aren't leaking hyd fluid today, just wait for tomorrow, it will leak.
good luck.

They also sell a protective sleeve to put over hoses.

That nylon sleeve doesn't do as good of a job at abrasion protection as going to a higher abrasion resistant cover on the hose. Gates MegaTuff, Parker SuperTough, Eaton Bruiser, etc. It's an ultra high density plastic cover that gets wrapped over the rubber before vulcanizing. I drug some behind my truck for several hours on accident once and had some scuffing but I still would have used it on my personal equipment.
