Went on a stretch and bend picnic

Stretch my back, leg and arm muscles when I bend over to pick up rocks that is. This job is on my least favs list. Picked a lot of rocks in my day and would like to not pick any more. The only good thing is I got to drive a Case tractor. Oh well, too wet to plant yet anyway. Maybe tomorrow I'll get to plant.

Looks like the rocks are pushing front wheels in dirt.

No way would I attempt to pick them up, I would be hurting for months.

I made a thumb for my backhoe. It can pick up heavy objects. Comes in very handy. Do you have a rock garden? I've used the thumb to pics up rocks, because the boss told me to put them in a flower bed

...We spent many years trying to make them disappear also. There is no easy way. I picked a couple POUNDS of rocks as a farm kid. Dad got wise and bought a Schulte picker and built a rock rake. That made it physically easier, but we still devoted a lot of time to rock picking. Then my schoolmates who farmed closer to the Sauk River would talk about picking rocks on Saturday. I would ask, "how many loads did you pick?" "oh a couple bucket fulls".

After dad saw Captain Kirk disintegrate stuff on Star Trek he always talked about build a laser to shoot them, but by that point he had relegated to the honest truth.

Jon, I trust you fully understand the meaning of "stone boat"!

(quoted from post at 13:32:12 05/08/17) I heard rocks keep pushing up through the ground. Is this correct? stan

You can pretty much depend on a new crop every year in the north country, Especially if your ground is glacial till. You will notice a "tick" when your mower knife hits a rock. Next year it will be a "ding" next year a "clang". Since you don't want to hear what follows clang, you dig it out before next cutting.

rocks migrate from the spot you threw them to, back to their breeding grounds, annually.

Do you guys keep an eye out for Lake Superior agates when you are removing rocks from your fields. Years ago I did a lot of lapidary and silversmithing. Those agates are really beautiful and some are really huge, big enough to be a problem in a field. If you found one it would be worth a fortune. Just wondering.
