Flood aftermath

Muddling through here. Mom's house flooded, we have her moved out and to my brothers house. She carried flood insurance, and tear out is done. I am going to start getting bids for re construction soon. My shop flooded, lots of cleaning to do yet. Two mowers submerged, I have one running good. The other threw a rod. Lots of fence that looks like this, cows finding new ways out faster than I can fix them back. I do consider us lucky, there were several who lost their lives last weekend.

Wow! That will be one nasty project. Keep smiling, we're all rooting for you!

Hopefully that's the last time you will have to clean that fence up.

I've already cleaned up about 1/2 mile of fence and still have about 1/4 to go. US 67 is still closed. Where my wife works has about 6" of sand in the building and she hasn't worked in 10 days, it may be a couple of months more. Van Buren and Doniphan MO are in really bad shape. That's the reason I took out as much fence on the river as possible and moved all permanent buildings to high ground. After the floods in 1982 we make sure all equipment and cattle are on high ground every time there is a threat of flash flooding.
