What's wrong with this picture??

I've seen new ones with the chains like that.It keeps stuff from bending if you back into a slope and the mower raises up.

Actually it appears to be in good condition, the deck isn't beat to H and back like many. The chains work good just as long as your tractor will hold the lift arms where you put them or get a set of N Ford chains that go from the arms to the top link. The weeds and grass has grown up around everything here in the last 2 weeks since we've had about 6 Inches of rain.I wouldn't buy it because I don't like 3 pt cutters.

Well, it doesn't meet the definition of mowing machine as I understand it.

Other names for rotary machines come to mind. Most popular and misused, as it is a trademark, is "brush hog." When I hear MOWER I picture something with a sickle bar.

I am pretty sure the tail wheel is also on a
chain. Using a chain to lift and carry
doesn't bend the mower and the tail wheel
one is an easy height adjustment.

I disagree; the tail wheel should move up and down independently of the front braces as both pivot off the same bolt and are not tied together anywhere else.

That's weird - the first time I checked this thread and clicked on the CL link, rather than a pic of the brush cutter, it showed one of those scan bars, like what you scan with your cell phone. No other pics came up.

Kind of like using the word "drug" instead of "dragged" or using the term "ran when parked".

When I was in my 20s my boss sent me off to mow a lot. I took off mowing and dropped into a hole. The mower braces broke and flew forward hitting me in the back. Lucky they didn't get me in the head. Those chains look pretty good to me.

I've got one of those mowers, it came with a tractor I bought. That one would only sell for about $250-$300 around here, and that's if it was
cleaned up better than he's done. I do like it though, it's easy to hook up cause it's light enough to move around by hand.. I hook mine up to an
8N and mow around the house and under overhanging trees along the edge of the pasture.

ail wheel is rigid to frame/body of cutter.

I just sold a cheapie one last Sat. at a consignment auction. It brought $400. No I didn't run the bid on it, that was what it actually brought. Yes I let it go at that price and was darned happy to get that LOL

i have one just like it, its dead now, as in a rock went thru the deck, i can fix it, but i have 2 others if i remember we paid something like 225 for it 15 years ago at auction
