Trying to come up with a fair price for a 1949 Chev 3600 (3/4 ton) truck I'm thinking of selling. Engine (235 cu in) runs reasonably well and it drives normally. All the electrical works and I've added turn signals. But it needs lots of body work on the cab proper. Bed is all new and fenders are nice. New headlight chrome rings. New front hubcaps. New front hood emblem. New wiring harness.

I just don't have a good feel for being "fair".

Would a "photo" selling category on this site make sense? Thanks

That is the model truck I learned to drive on. But it had a 216 and not 235 and the owners manual did not list a 235 as option. In the cars after automatic was avaible the 235 was with the auto and 216 was still with the stick. The 235 was in bigger trucks I think but the 216 was still used in the school bus chasie according to the owners manual. So if it is the 235 is it a later engine put in? We had the 4 on floor and 7:00x17" tires. When we got rid of it in 76 body was falling apart but no brake drums were avaible. It had been in the family since it was 3 months old and first several years it never had a load on it except for those first 3 months when it was owned by a small grocery store that went broke.

I never liked those year GM trucks. I liked the '55, '56 better but after I had one I found out they are about the same underneath. Seems like not long they were not worth much. Lately I have seen them sell for $3, 4,000 in good original condition.

This one has the 235 engine as a swap-in after the 216 wore out. Also, it has the 17 inch tires and two extra wheels and tires, and the 4-on-the-floor transmission.
