water pump hose fitting

Need help I have a 6 inch suction hose it is rubber and branded hose .Need to put on a barbed couplers fittings they are alum any way to get them push on

Soap or rubber lube, a hard rubber dead blow hammer works well, or a block of wood and a regular hammer.

If you have some help, depending on how long the hose is, pick it up and bang it into a solid wood support post, corner post, etc, like a battering ram.

I had to do that last fall. Now I was working with 2 inch heavy hose not 6 inch. On the stove I had a BIG pot of rolling boil water. The barb was well lubed with ivory dish liquid. Wear heavy lether gloves. Stick one hose in the boiling water for like 30 seconds. Grab the fitting and push it as far as it will go. Next relube the fitting and then heat the other hose. Same, same and get it on as far as it will go. If you lucked out you got them all of the way on. If not fold the hose a little so you can get it back in the water and then push some more. Helps to have a pet Gorilla or something. If you are out in a remote area an electric hot plate will heat the water enough. I hate to direct heat rubber with a flame cause it is not even heat and can cause damage to the hose. To get a really good grip on the hose you can take an old bath towel and wrap it around and the throw a really big hose clamp around it. Should give you grip and no slip. Good luck !

I wondered if i could heat the hose with my shop heater then dead blow on the fitting only a little rain 3 inches water from the west coming east and lake erie blow west im in the middle got one 10 inch pump on the 5000 ford .
