Tree Pulling

Finally got to use the tree puller the other day. Son had it on his 1845 skid loader. Works real good in the fence rows. The smaller ones he can pull out and the bigger ones he gets ahold of them and I cut them off with the chainsaw. Then we load them on the flat bed I made to haul big rolls of tile and head for the brush pile. You have to be careful at all times. We had a little accident when son was running saw-plum brush and chainsaws don't mix, pulled the saw right into his leg. Ouch--he was to stubborn to go to Dr. His wife is a RN and fixed him up.---Tee

I never use to wear chaps when running a chain saw until this job i have which requires you to where them. Made a believer out of me many times. I have seen saws rip the chaps up and stop the saw. I wont run one now without them.

He was lucky! "Lessons learned the hard way are remembered the longest!" I used to get little scars on my shins when cutting up the branches, the chainsaw would kick them towards me. Now I cut up the branches on my tablesaw, a lot safer.

Glad he was not hurt bad. I cut with the top of the saw bar pushing the bar and brush away form you. If it does kick back the chain brake will stop the chain 90% of the time before it is even close.

I wear chaps. Only had to throw a chain once to make a believer out of me.

Brush and thickets of saplings, bushes etc. always seem to want to throw a chain in my experience. Definitely need to be careful and wear the chaps when using a saw in that stuff or find another way. He is lucky, thankfully it was not any worse.

I gouged myself while climbing down from the top of a barn wall after setting trusses one cold December day. This section had collapsed so we repaired it and the horse stall fronts were the interior wall we set them on. I scaled my way down, hugging the wall and gouged out the cut you see through my denim jeans without tearing them ! 1/2" stall latch end was all it took. Male nurse at the hospital later that evening, (had to make a run with the sileage truck at my other job 1st) said you really need to wear chaps when cutting with a chainsaw, he was convinced that is what caused it. Not the case, but what a tough one to numb up before stitching, had some quality time with the female doctor on that. She was finally able to make it bearable to sew up !
