I use my Husquvarna SG13. Works pretty well on the small stumps but takes a while with the big stumps.

Owner says it a 78 hp turbo diesel. Nothing slowed it down.
Don't think you can rent one of these at a DIY rental.

I kinda don't see the point. There is still a whack of roots left behind. Seems that an excavator would do a better job - just sayin'

The landowner, my neighbor, just wanted the maple stump and roots removed to ground level so rain would run away from basement. That's why you may see some roots left behind. There were 4 trees in the yard.

Now he's getting 10 ton of topsoil and I'll angle the dirt to divert rain water.

Other neighbor just went into the stump grinding business. I've never seen any stump grinder in my area have one this big and nice. Not to mention remote controlled. Most stump grinders the operator is close to the grinder eating dirt.

The turbo diesel didn't even grown, dirt and wood went flying.
