What a mess!

Today I was using the tractor and loader to load some gravel that I had stockpiled to use on a small job. I had the truck and dump trailer parked near the pile and the 4th bucketful I blew a hose on the loader and sprayed hy-trans oil all over the new truck and the tractor. I tried to wash the truck with hot water and dawn dish soap, but that isn't cutting it...just smears it worse. Any ideas on what to use?

We use liquid Tide. Mix it 50/50 with water
in a pump sprayer and spray it on and let it
soak for a while. Do it a couple of times.
Then wash it off.

At work we clean dirty oily stuff with
a product called econolene. It's a
green liquid and cuts oil like crazy.
Can be used full strength or cut with
water depending on how oily/dirty it
is. I bet Half strength would clean
your truck just fine. I have never seen
it hurt paint. Can be had at a janitor
supply place for about $10 a gallon.

Krud kutter. Used it on the back of my semi after tail shaft seal went out. Sprayed it on 50/50 cut with water, let it sit for about 10 minutes, kinda swabbed it with a soft brush. The oil sprayed off with a hose. Can get it at lowes, worked better than anything I have used to cut grease. Even took off the grease that was on the back from the driveshaft flinging it there.
Krud kutter

Work it over with a wand at a car wash. Most have several options for detergent, depending on the job to be done.

Thanks for all the ideas. It got me to thinking that I do have a gallon of some kind of soap I bought to use with my power washer..I will try some of that first.

Our clean up man uses a product called RED POWER for jobs like that. I've never seen it fail. Be sure to wear rubber gloves.

If that stuff you have doesn't work, be
careful with the citrus cleaners on your new
truck. While they do work VERY well, they
are hard on the glues that hold the trim
pieces on. We have a new Chevy at work that
wasn't exposed to the stuff the first year,
and it got washed regularly with no
problems. Then it got used on the chip seal
projects and was covered with tar dust like
all of our big trucks (that have no trim).
We use the stuff all over the big trucks to
get the tar off, and after using it a couple
times on the pickup (we use it on them daily
during chip seal projects), the decals,
badging and trim that was held on by
adhesive started peeling and fell off
shortly after that. Every piece of trim,
took about 2 weeks. Does a heck of a job
cleaning tar off and removing grease, and
adhesives...

Was in town today so I picked up the biggest bottle of dish soap at the dollar store and brushed it on undiluted....seems to have done the job. Will wait and see if any more gnats stick to it...
Back to one gurjus truck LOL!
