Got the CBS paint booth in operation

Well the weather finally warmed up and had some sunshine. I have been planning for this couple of days for quit some time. Took the fabricated pieces that I have built this winter for my Case 831C and started squirting paint on some of the pieces yesterday. Brought out the 2 post canopy structure today and got that all purdied up, and backed my new wood hauler around and got the Power Red on the tailgate of that. Ran out of paint earlier and only had primer on the tailgate Had to use a little Pennseltucky windage when painting yesterday. Ma nature kept turning the exhaust fan up on high, when I wasn't looking. I didn't get the roof for the canopy painted Desert Sunset yet, because it is too big and bulky to handle alone.

Looks great Loren. I didn't have a chance to ask but how was your syrup season. Been kinda more off YT than on this winter

Hasn't been a good season. Fell short of expectations even with more buckets hung this year. Spent a lot of money on upgrades to the sap house and evaporator, so there won't be much of a payback for this year.

Spray painted my Farmall rear wheel centers inside my little cheap-o garden shed, with space heaters and plastic tarps and spray cans one January, freezing weather, sleet. Worked good.

Great looking job. You always make those paint jobs look easy but I bet there is more to it than we see. Happy farming.

We have to be careful about spray painting like that in my area, some of the body shops around that have the fancy paint booths will turn us in to the EPA for not being COMPLIANT. This is not a joke!!!

You got that right. I went through it 30 years ago when I had a body shop. Some joker filed a complaint with the EPA 'cause I just had an exhaust fan blowing into the open air outside the shop.

Of course, once the guy filed the complaint the EPA had to check it out. The inspector that came out could find no evidence of paint residue on the outside of the shop, nor was there anything close enough to be harmed. He couldn't say it, but I got the feeling he thought the complaint was as ridiculous as I did. He did say, though, that when I was painting I might want to let the airflow hold a furnace filter against the screen on the exhaust fan.

Remember, though, this was 30 years ago. I'm sure the EPA is not as sympathetic now.
