Busy morning

Got a call from #1 son this morning. "Ya got time to come over to work and give me a boost before you pick up TMR? Battery is dead". Okay, so I got him going, picked up TMR and just sat down to breakfast. Riiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnng. "Yeah"? #2 son on the line. "Ya wanna come back here and see if you think we can pull the 1955 and a loaded manure spreader out? I'm hung up". After I looked the situation over, "Yeah, yer hung up alright". Those Meyer spreaders don't have much clearance and if you are in any kind of rut you might just as well take the wheels off and skid em like a stone boat. "Think we can pull it out with the dozer"? "Guess we'll find out". So I back dragged the three feet of mud pushed up in front of the spreader wheels, and butted the dozer blade up against the front weights and managed to push him back a foot or so. First pull got us about 6 or 7 feet. He backed up about a foot and the second try was a hard pull but we chugged our way out. I had the OC-4 off to one side a bit where I had solid footing. If I wouldn't have been able to push him back before that first try, I don't think I could have pulled him out. Yup the frost is out of the ground! Jeff says, "I think I'll just put this load on the manure pile today".

I guess we drag out the field cultivator today, fix the two flat tires and spend a couple of hours smoothing roads and filling ruts before I start picking up sap buckets. (chuckle)
