We know nothing about this tractor. It's for sale on Craigslist. Price seems ok. Says it runs ,needs small part in carb. Comes with scrape blade and plow. But ........ What do y'all see it's issues are? Don't want to drive 150 miles and be clueless. Thanks

Well lets go with the positives first. It does have the hydraulic pump. I do not see the lift cylinder but it maybe under the tractor as I do not remember exactly where it was located. Some had this pump for just the attachments like a wood splitter or loader. I hate to say that is about the only positive thing about this one. It is setting with the carburetor uncovered so I would be surprised if the carburetor is even good enough to rebuild. I wonder if the engine has internal damage for setting out side uncovered??? Also is the engine the original? It looks to be white. They would have been painted orange like the rest of the tractor.

Now the hard numbers. These little tractors are not very valuable. They are collectable. Especially the attachments. A tractor, with the attachments you listed, would only be worth $1000-1500 in good running shape. One like this one would not be worth $500??? You buying a pig in a poke here.

Hi grandpa, keep looking unless your into big time refurbish, it doesn't nee a small part for the carb it needs a carb, it has no hydraulics what may look like a hyd pump sticking out of the dash is the starter generator, the lever on the side is the lift for the hitch just looking at the engine in the picture it looks to be a B&S model 23 which they used for many yrs and is a good engine if its in good condition but looking at the tractor I have my doubts also the add on gas tank on the front of the hood really doesn't cut it that hood should lift at the front and tip back. At the best its a $250 but really only about $150.00

I forgot to say its sitting out in the weather and most likely the transmission is full of water, they are prone to water getting in at the shift lever and there being no rear seal in that trans the water can run down the tube into the differential and if that fills up it can then run into the final drives.

It's just my opinion but I don't believe I'd drive 15 miles to look at a tractor in that condition, let alone 150. Missing air cleaner, rusted off muffler, butchered hood from what appears to be an added on fuel tank (what's wrong with the original?), all miss-matched tires, and the general appearance of something that lived a life of neglect. Positives would include the 24" tires (many have 16" tires and shorter front spindles), rear weights, at least what appears to be one good rear tire, and a mower deck mule drive assembly. It is obvious that it has the single transmission (a double transmission was optional and include a second shift lever in the hole in front of the seat) and the early style of integral hitch which pre-dated the Cat 0 3-point of latter models. Price? I'd say a few hundred at most and then only if a person needed the parts. To bring something like that back to life and looking decent would probably cost more than it was worth.

Like JD Seller said it does have a hydraulic pump but it also has the manual lift lever (that's the large lever and notched arch to the right of the platform) so would not have hydraulic lift. Not sure what this means but I do know a larger pump was used when a loader was installed so maybe the tractor was equipped this way at some point. The log splitter pump was run off of the front PTO and the whole hydraulic system was part of the attachment, not integrated into the tractor.

If you're thinking about getting a Power King or Economy tractor I can tell you that they're great little machines - sturdy, simple, and useful. I use my 2418 for many tasks around the place and really enjoy it. They're a little bigger and more capable than the average garden tractor but lighter and more nimble than the smallest farm tractors such as a Cub. I'd sure suggest one with the Cat 0 hitch and hydraulic lift to increase the usefulness, though.

(quoted from post at 20:19:11 04/08/17) I would drive 150 miles for the 67 chevelle in the pics but not the tractor.

Yeah, it looks good in the pictures, for sure! :)

I have two of them that vintage, early 70s. That is the hydraulic pump over the bellhousing. There is no reservoir or valve or cylinder. The valve and tank are supposed to be under the seat. The cylinder on the right rear of the foot rest platform. Water could be a problem, You might want to pull the drain plug on the transmission and rear end and see if much water comes out. Could pull the cover off the rear of the rear ind. It is hard to get to the transmission cover easy as you have to take the sheetmetal cover off before you can access it. Not hard to do but more involved. Muffler and carb aren't too big of deal, if it runs the carb can brobably be cleaned or adjusted. The hood has a couple of holes for the gas tank hanging off the front, but no big deal, but what is wrong with the other tank? These are good little tractors. This one looks a little rough but if it runs and the gears work I would say it would be worth up to $500. I paid 1000 for a similiar one with hydraulics and two transmissions a few years ago and though I got a good deal. I have seen them for a lot more than that, but nice too. I know of a Jim Dandy, the same thing and parts but a smaller model that is for sale for $600 around here, with a deck and snowplow I think. I think I would try and get it for $300 or $400 if it seems ok as there is a few things not right that reduce the value.

Since it appears to have a lawnmower tank bolted to the hood I would suspect the gas tank is rusty, or even has holes in it. Appears to have some kind of hydraulic pump on it, but also has hand lift. I believe that if you are looking for a project that will take a lot of time and money and not be worth enough to get much out of, you have found it.

Thanks for all the input on this. I believe I will pass on this only 400 bucks. But not a project I want to tackle. ( Atlanta Craigslist) if someone wants to tackle it. Lol.

Hi grandpa, that's a wise decision, if your interested in that type of tractor the 1973 and newer models up thur 1984 are great tractors. The 1973 and on are referred to as the long hood models in 1975 they started the 3 point hitch not all have hydraulics but most will those yrs most have Kohler engines the Power Kings will have 14 hp or a 18 hp for a couple of yrs they offered a 16 hp B&S model the PK's had either 16" or 24" rear wheels.
That tractor you posted about does NOT have a hydraulic pump on it the round object on top of the bell-housing is a Starter/generator the hyd pump on those models were mount on the left side of the bell-housing.

Pretty much what MNGB says, I have one almost exactly like that. Mine has a hydraulic pump on it because I put it on myself. I would give $250 for it and figure on a lot of work
