Front end alignment

I have a Ford 8n 1948/50 tractor I'm working on.
When the left front wheel is straight, the right front wheel is turned to the right some, and visa/versa.
Do I have worn spindle components? Or do I adjust the turn buckles to make the alignment.

Thanks Norman

Hello Norman Nutbag,

The first thing you need to do is(CENTER) the steering box. Turn the steering wheel to one side until it stops. Turn it the other way and count the turns. Now turn it 1/2 way according to the amount of turns. This will have centered the gear box. Now you can adjust the side that is off with the drag link. You may need to do both sides.
Once you do that both left and right will travel the same amount, and give you the same amount of turn angle.

Do as Guido describes. The wheels should point together a very small amount, called toe-in. it should be about 1/8, to 3/16 of an inch measured from the front of the tire, to the rear. Run the tractor against a 2X4 to make them pushed back as though it was operating. Jim

Hello Normal Nutbag,
