Anybody ever hear of lifetime warranty torque amplifier for large frame IH tractors? Not sure if it was a dealer option or an IH option. If there was such a thing, is it transferable? At one time there was such a thing as an 'extreme use' TA, but I never heard of a lifetime warranty.

Its been a long time since those tractors were built. Any legal department of any company in American would have long since figured out a way to skate on that warranty by now.

I have heard of it. When I asked a dealer about it one time they were sort of vague about it,like it was only a 5 year warranty or some such thing.

Best i ever had to offer was a three year parts and labor , but even the two year T/a's never came back . the one in my Buddy's 1066 that i put in twentyfive years ago is now going out due to the fact his oldest son was using it to try and hold back loaded silage wagons on the hills and using it to slow down from road gear coming up on stop signs . That a T/A was not meant to do and will eat the sprag every time . But hey that kid to destroy and anvil with a rubber hammer in five seconds .

About three years ago I had my 886 IH in to the local CaseIH dealer for a TA replacement. I had the option of a one year warranted kit from an aftermarket company, or a 15 year warranted kit from IH, parts and labor. Price difference was about $500 between the two. I went with IH for the additional $, but much longer warranty.

A spragless t/a was available back in the 80's that was a double clutch pack. I have put 6 or 8 in. Very reliable. The shift was very harsh, especially from low to high. I recommended using the foot clutch whenever possible. The first ones where a lifetime warranty. Later they went to 10 years. Last I knew they are no longer available.
