Have you ever seen a Ford/TLB/NAPCO tractor like this? Photo

Here's what I know. It is big. We call it The Great White Beast. The engine and transmission are 100% Ford 4500 1973 model with a 201 diesel. Bought it for $1,800 with bad main bearing. As heavy as it is, I figured I could get that for the scrap metal if I didn't get it running. Completely rebuilt the motor bored 0.030 over. Replaced most of the hydraulic hoses. Not a single leak now. Re-upholstered the seat. Greased it up. Runs great and does work.

Has the four speed forward/reverse shuttle shift automatic transmission. Bolted to the back of the Ford transmission is the four wheel drive transaxle. The rest of it is some type of heavt duty exoskeleton. It has a big clamshell bucket and standard Ford backhoe. The coolest thing are the NAPCO PS-1200 axles with four-wheel-drive planetary steering. It has a lever on the steering hydraulics that allow you steer all wheels the same way crab-style, opposite, or you can just steer the front wheels.

Check it out and let me know what you think. Would be great to see if anybody knows who may have manufactured this or even the history of this tractor. The white paint makes me think that it was county or state equipment. In any event, I thought you all would find it interesting.

Thanks! Charlie

Sounds like a good deal, I could get used to a 4 stick machine for what you have into it. You'll wonder how you lived without it LOL. Clam shell bucket is always handy. Theres an old Balmar for sale locally, needs more than yours though. It's built around the hundred series tractor. Really interesting how they fit the components on either of these kinds of machines.

It looks to be a similar configuration to the European Ford/County brand tractors except the steerable rear axle. Dynahoe made a similar TLB also, but it was a component tractor, and not based around a Ford tractor.
